restart...

i mentioned a couple posts ago about my new apartment hunt. well, i found one, i fell in love at first sight, and i type this from what i've designated as my new living room. granted, this is mostly a room in which i put the futon and the coffee table, as moving digs from a two-room apartment to a five-room apartment ensures the sort of air space around furniture that ought to earn me zen points.

anyway, this is also my fifth habitat in less than three years, so to finally find a place i feel settled is a huge weight lifted. and, to accompany my new maison, i'm doing other new things, like chopping off all my hair again even though it's taken me nearly a year and a half to grow it from the last time i cut it.

additionally, albeit with less success, i'm trying not to procrastinate so much (my mind knows hulu will be there AFTER the work is done, but when i see additions like the 1988 remake of "the blob," all bets are off), and to hone my writing skills to a razor edge. plus, to stop eating so much crap food, drink less coffee and more water, to quit smoking for real instead of just for a day or two, to fall in love properly, blah blah blah blah.

whatever, i'm doing a pretty fucking rad job of living my life either way, and i hope you are too.

retail therapy...

It's the middle of September, which means in my world, it's Fall--regardless of what the outside temperature tells me. And Fall, for me, is the only season in which I like to do a "new season" retailing romp. I might buy a new coat or scarves in Winter, and some new dresses with impending Spring/Summer, but let me tell you, my bank account never survives the weeks from mid-September to Thanksgiving. In preparation for the bingeing beginning tomorrow, here are some things on my lust list (do you love my alliteration?).

First up, I'm pretty sure my love of boots is global knowledge (but then, I like to also conduct mock interviews with me in my head to prepare for inevitable fame). So, here are some pairs I just can't get over.

Chloe suede wraparound.

And these, I have a soft spot for mostly because I just purchased them, and have not removed them from my feet since moment of purchase. I've been looking for a good pair of fringed boots for eons (literally), but the recent trend of super ridiculous moccasin boots ranks with gladiator sandals for me, at the level of hipster awfulness. These by Steve Madden though are a perfect throwback to Woodstock.

I love them so much I'm considering biting the bullet and grabbing a pair of Madden's short ones, too-- http://www.stevemadden.com/item.aspx?id=47091

For my birthday my mother apparently bought me a new bag from Brazil, but the delivery system of packages to apartment buildings is totally wonky, so if and when I ever receive it, there will be a bag post here.

Go listen to Blitzen Trapper and stop to smell the leaves.

new digs...

new apartment on the near horizon. moving kicks my ass, and i've done it 5 times in the last two years, but i have great feelings about this one. if nothing else, i'll finally have SPACE SPACE SPACE, which is probably the biggest luxury of any nyc apartment. so i've been playing interior designer, which is my favorite pretend game, and these rooms have been really inspiring:

my love for unfinished edges is a little bit out of control. exposed beams, bricks, organic shapes; i want to live in a mountain cabin in the middle of brooklyn.

quote of the day

As seen on the Myspace front page...

"Avril Rocks!"
Avril Lavigne rocks harder than any band out there, even when she's toning it down with her power ballad "When You're Gone."
